• Dear Parents:

We are pleased to provide the North Carolina School Report Card for èAVƵ.  The report card includes data for the 2022-2023 academic year.

As one of the largest school districts in North Carolina with 56 schools and 3,800 employees, we have the privilege of delivering quality instruction to approximately 30,000 students in pre-kindergarten through high school.

All schools have a comprehensive instructional program with opportunities for every student at every ability level.  We offer Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses; Career and Technical Education programs; school choice options, magnet schools, and specialized academy programs; and services for exceptional children.  Additionally, we provide many other academic, athletic, fine arts, extracurricular, and student support programs.

èAVƵ is fully accredited as a quality school system by AdvancED/Cognia.  We are extremely proud of our schools and their strong commitment to high expectations and improved student achievement at all grade levels.  Our strength lies in our highly-qualified employees, challenging curriculum, dedicated parents, and caring community.

Our students excel in every arena: in the classroom, on the athletic field, in the performing arts, and through extracurricular activities.  Numerous academic, athletic, and merit scholarships were offered to our Class of 2023 graduates, including scholarships to attend the most prestigious schools in our state and across the nation.  We hope you will visit our website (www.gaston.k12.nc.us) to learn more about our students’ many accomplishments.

The North Carolina School Report Card for èAVƵ County contains important information about student performance, class size, attendance, funding, college and career readiness, teacher quality, and other areas.  We encourage you to review the report card data carefully and contact your school principal if you have questions.

The Board of Education joins me in thanking you for your continued support of our schools.  Working together, I am confident that we will continue to inspire success and a lifetime of learning in èAVƵ.

    Sincerely,
    Stephen C. Laws, Ed.D.
    Interim Superintendent of Schools
